Technical Diagnostic - 90-Minute Technical Strategy Audit. No commitment.
For the non-technical founder or CEO sizing up an engineering team they didn't build, the leadership team running without a CTO, or the company picking up the pieces after a CTO departure.
What you get - A focused read on where you actually stand.
Three deliverables, scoped tightly so the work stays useful and the findings stay actionable.
- Written assessment. A clear-eyed review of your architecture, team, technical debt, and vendor and tool footprint. The goal is to surface what is working, what is fragile, and what is costing you more than it should.
- 90-minute executive readout. A live walk-through of the assessment with you and whoever needs to be in the room. Questions are welcome. The point is to leave with shared understanding, not a slide deck to interpret later.
- Prioritized action plan. A short list of what to do next, ordered by impact and urgency. Concrete enough that your team can pick it up on Monday.
What it costs.
Starting at $5,000. Final price depends on company size and scope, confirmed before any work begins.
What happens after.
You walk away with a clear picture of your technical position regardless of whether we work together. If there's a fit for ongoing work, we'll discuss it. If not, the assessment is yours to use.
FAQ - Common questions before you book.
A few things people ask before scheduling a diagnostic. If your question isn't here, send it over and I'll answer directly.
- How long does it take end-to-end?. About two weeks from kickoff to readout. The first week is interviews, document review, and analysis. The second week is writing the assessment and scheduling the readout.
- Do I get the written report?. Yes. The written assessment is yours to keep, share with your board, hand to a future hire, or use however it's useful. No redactions, no watermarks.
- Is there a follow-on commitment?. None. The diagnostic is a complete engagement on its own. If we decide together that ongoing work makes sense, we'll scope it separately. If not, you still walk away with the assessment and action plan.
- Who delivers it?. I lead the engagement personally. For situations where a second perspective adds value, I bring in a senior technical partner with a complementary CTO-level track record. Either way, you talk to the people doing the work.
- What do you need from me?. A few hours of access to you and a small number of people on your team, plus whatever architecture diagrams, org charts, and vendor lists you can share. I'll send a short prep list once we confirm the engagement.
- What if my situation is unusual?. Most situations look unusual from the inside. I've worked across enough companies that the patterns tend to rhyme. If after an intro call I think I'm not the right fit, I'll say so before we sign anything.
Ready for a clear read on your technical position?
Two weeks. A written assessment, an executive readout, and a prioritized action plan. No commitment beyond the engagement itself.
